Holly started her confinement at 8.15 pm on Sunday 1st October 2018, and had delivered 6 healthy-looking puppies into the world by midnight (a seventh pup never looked good, and survived until 5 o’clock the next day).Holly with her pups “the morning after” .

Mother and pups are doing very well, and Ziggy has seen them (from a distance) although Holly has been clear she doesn’t want him too close! We think that there are 5 boys and a girl.All six pups at 20 hours old.
Holly’s delivery seemed comparatively easy, with her making little fuss beforehand. Three pups came in quick succession, one more 40 minutes later, two more an hour after that, and the final one (probably the girl) born an hour later. After number one, Holly was very clear what to do: she tore the sacs open then licked vigorously to get them breathing, and kept them together.

When we tried to weigh and measure the pups at 20 hours old, Holly wasn’t having it, and came out of her nest to retrieve the pup we were trying to record!
